34 Weeks

Rick and I (and the baby) went to our 34 week appointment yesterday. Everything seems to be going well so far, he says. The baby's heartrate was right in normal range at 139 beats per minute. We had a little discussion about birth weight, since Rick was such a large baby (I've been getting a little nervous about that). Jimmy estimated that she is now about 5 lbs and if I go all the way to the due date, she'll be about 8 lbs. Sounds good to me!!
And some of you remember how excited I was after my last appointment and me losing 4 lbs...well, we found out that their scale was not functioning correctlybecause ALL of their OB patients were losing weight. I really gained 2 lbs. Oh well, that just means the baby's healthy!

almost ready!

I was able to get a lot done in Shevb's bedroom over the weekend - including getting the crib bedding set up, clothes washed and put away and lots of planning and organization. I owe most of this to my good friend Laura. She mentioned that she would feel much more prepared if she knew this stuff was taken care of - so we spent about 6 hours doing this on Saturday. Thank you Laura for your help - and taking pictures!!! It looks GREAT!

pimp

This is our version of 'pimp my ride'. We FINALLY went and bought our travel system yesterday - I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but it's black and silver stripes, low mileage, turns on a dime, and fully loaded. I cannot WAIT to use it! We also got our pack and play on the same trip. It's not the cutest thing that you ever did see, but it will be used often and we are happy to add it to our collection of baby items.

From the Mouths of Babes

Saturday night we broke in the firepit at our friend's house Beth and Bob. They have a sweet daughter named Vera that is almost 2 1/2. We were discussing what might be inside my belly and we joking ruled out a kitten or a puppy. She got very serious for a moment, scrunched up her face and said "is it a snow leopard"? Apparently her recent trip to the zoo left a distinct impression upon her.
We're sorry to disapoint you Vera, but there is not a snow leopard in this belly. Bless her sweet little heart!!

Good day!

Well, today turned out to be a pretty good day! I had some concerns with some swelling in my hands and feet - primarily on my left side - which seemed a little odd. We called our friendly Jimmy and he decided to err on the safe side and check my left leg for a possible blood clot. It was a bit scary on the way to the hospital for the testing, but I knew I'd be in good hands if something were to actually be wrong. I ended up knowing the ultrasound technician - and many of you readers would too (she was in my high school class). She is also pregnant - just due a week before me and after she searched my left leg for possible blood clots - she decided to let me take a peek at Shevb!! We made CERTAIN that she was a girl - and that was confirmed, and then she took some pictures of her face. She has definitely changed SO much since the ultrasound we had at 19 weeks. She seems to have nice chubby cheeks - which I know some of you are suckers for. She was opening and closing her mouth and moving her chin as if she knew she was being watched. How AWESOME! Oh yeah, and there was no blood clot (funny how I already forgot what I was talking about). God is good!

And the other neat thing of the day was that her crib bedding came in and I got to pick that up as well. Yeah Yeah Yeah!!

Baby's Room

Here are some preliminary photos of the baby's room. It obviously isn't finished yet, but the crib is assembled and the dresser is in position. It's taking shape and becoming more real! I can't wait
for everything to be in it's proper place (or rather, I can't wait to figure out where the proper place IS for everything). What fun!

He's really a softy

I felt as though it was time to give my ugly, swollen feet a little attention the other evening. Unfortunately, a bump got in the way of me being able to finish the job that I had started...so my knight in shining armor stepped in for the rescue. R.D. painted my toe nails for me. He didn't do too badly! What a sweet guy!
